Become a Volunteer Trustee

Lambeth Mediation is seeking committed and community‑minded individuals to join our Board of Trustees. This is a chance to play a meaningful role in strengthening local conflict‑resolution services, support a respected charity, and help shape our strategic direction.

Role Purpose: As a Volunteer Trustee, you will play a key role in supporting the strategic direction, governance, and long-term sustainability of Lambeth Mediation Service. Trustees work collectively to ensure the organisation delivers high-quality mediation services that meet the needs of the local community.

 
Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the strategic development and overall governance of the organisation
  • Ensure the charity operates in line with its charitable objectives, values, and legal responsibilities
  • Provide oversight of financial management, risk, and performance
  • Act as an ambassador for Lambeth Mediation Service and support its reputation and profile
  • Attend and actively participate in Trustee Board meetings and occasional sub-groups
  • Support and appropriately challenge senior leadership to ensure effective decision-making
Person Specification
We are seeking individuals who:
  • Share a commitment to community support, conflict resolution, and social justice
  • Can think strategically and exercise sound judgement
  • Are able to work collaboratively and respectfully with others
  • Bring integrity, independence, and a willingness to ask constructive questions
Experience in areas such as mediation, community services, law, finance, HR, governance, fundraising, or lived experience of community issues would be particularly welcome, though not essential.

Time Commitment: Approximately 4 board meetings per year (usually evenings). Occasional additional time for preparation, sub-groups, or events
